The inception of the Akkila Company started in the year 2001 by its owner Mr. Mohanad Akilla, he started its first business with client Al Jabber Engineering by providing with full written corporate Quality Records and forms which later on approved by Qatar Petroleum prior to its implementation and uses. It was seconded by the request of Quality Personnel whom were specialized and experienced in Non Destructive Testing. During this period the company started to gradually add more skilled manpower to support its market demand. By the end of 2003 (MOE) Ministry of Environment, formerly the (SCENR) Supreme Council for Environment and Natural Reserves, Akkila Company licensing was completed. On these lists are: 1. Location 2. Storage 3. Equipment 4. Import and Export of Radioactive and 5. Using radioactive.

In the year 2004, Petrofac Lead working for Qatar Petroleum, has paved wider means of penetrating the TESTING market. Whilst these demands, the company begun to invest on Industrial RADIOGRAPHY equipment, including cameras, followed by X-ray. In 2005 Akkila was given an increased amount of projects through JGC Middle East Dolphin Energy Project Ras Laffan. This helped to increase the company’s reputations to become one of the leading conventional NDT companies in Qatar. Also in that period, automatic film developing, and flasher has been initially introduced by Akkila Company cutting half of the time for radiographed reports. Later on, Ras Laffan Olefin Project (RLOP) with its three major contractors Manco, Lahoud, Petrojet, has added historical financial boost to the organization lasting till early 2009.

The company never restrained itself to adapt to the booming civil and construction activities, oil and gas, maintenance and offshore works in the region, 2006-2008 being important years for Akkila, these major sectors have been enlisted in the rooster of the major clients upgrading the technical requirements of each succeeding employees. From ASME Codes to British Standards the clients were served according to their needs. On these lists The Qatar Foundation Al Shaqab Academy Project, New Doha International Airport, The Pearl Construction, Islamic Museum, Total and Shell offshore and maintenance jobs thru Salam RBG and Veloci, Mesaieed Independent Power Plant, Doha Urban Relocation project for the pipeline, Tanks and Spheres, and other call out services within Mesaieed and Ras Laffan Industrial City.

Another milestone has been achieved in the year 2009 and early 2010, the recent huge break for our Post Weld Heat Treatment activity serving one of the prestige client in the region - Qatar Gas 3 &4 Development Project LNG Onshore Facilities thru CTJV and Gama Qatar has proved our competence, with over 130 supplied skilled manpower, 20 out of 45 Heat Treatment machines ready to deploy and 2 PMI machines were working 24/7 for over 8 months. Parallel to this accomplishment the organization has finally registered as Corporate Member of two International regard body; the (ASNT) American Society for Non-Destructive Testing and (AWS) American Welding Society.

Bureau Veritas has certified and successfully audited the System Management of the company on ISO 9001:2008 requirement with its original approval date 6th of June 2010 and is valid up to 9th of June 2013.
